Levon Aronian on his game against Ivanchuk (AUDIO)

Levon Aronian’s victory over Vassily Ivanchuk brings Armenian team next two points at the Olympiad. Especially for our site Aronian commented on his today’s victory.

The rating favorite of the tournament acknowledged that the opening was unusual. It seemed to him that it would be interesting to play 10.d5, although it might be not the best move… After 15.Ne3 he was thinking about 15… Bxe3 16.Bxe3. Aronian can’t say that white have an advantage, but he can say that it’s more comfortable to play for him. And then “Vassily surprised me”, remarked Aronian.

ARONIAN - IVANCHUK

15…d4?

"This move was very critical and unusual for Ivanchuk. Further black's position was so unpleasant that even Vassily couldn’t manage it".

Aronian considers the match against Ukraine as the most successful for the Armenian team for this moment. And observes the game Movsesian vs Ponomariov as decisive so as Sergey succeed in defense.
