Karjakin - Dubov was one of five draws that were registered in the Superfinal of the Russian Championship. Yesterday a young player managed to hold against Grischuk and now he didn't lose playing black against another favourite of the competition. From a first sight Daniil just escaped his opponent, however, Sergey fairly noted on his Twitter page that he missed a real opportunity:

Here Sergey played 15.Qc2?!, and black managed to consolidate. Instead, white could immediately use black knight's uncomfortable position on c5: 15.Nb3, и на 15...Nfd7 and white has a very strong move 16.Ng5!!

It's hard to find a helpful defence on a kingside, for example, 16...h6 17.Nxf7! Kxf7 18.Qg4 Bd5 19.Bxd5 exd5 20.Qxg7+ Ke8 21.Nxc5 Nxc5 22.Qg6+ with a decisive advantage.

Stronger was 16...g6, but then after 17.Nxc5 Nxc5 18.Qg4 black has real problems. 18...h5 19.Qg3 Qd6 (or 19...Qb8 20.f4) 20.Qxd6 Bxd6 21.Rb6 Be7 22.Nxe6 fxe6 23.Rxe6 Nxe6 24.Bxe6+ Kh7 25.Bxa7.

16...Qc7 doesn't help: 17.Nxc5 Nxc5 18.Qg4 e5 19.Bxc5 Bxc5 20.Rbc1, and black will lose a piece.
