Etienne Bacrot, who was playing against Hikaru Nakamura in Round 9 of the Biel tournament made an unexpected blunder which can hardly be explained. In an interesting, mutually playable position he could even gain some advantage at one of the key moments.

Etienne BACROT - Hikaru NAKAMURA

In case of a simple move with the queen we would see a full-blooded duel, but Bacrot played  30. Rе1? and after 30... Qе1 the game finished.

Magnus Carlsen drew against Anish Giri after getting a deadly drawn rook endgame on move 37. Тhus, Wang Hao has a chance to surpass Calrsen in case of winning over Viorel Bologan. However, Moldovan has a quite perspective position at the moment.
