Already Three Participants of the London Chess Classic Are Known: Anand, Carlsen and Aronian

The official website of the London Chess Classic reports that Levon Aronian became the third GM to confirm his participation in the super-tournament  which will take place in the capital of England from December 1st to December 10th 2012. Earlier the world champion Vishy Anand and the leader of the rating list Magnus Carlsen confirmed their participation in the competition.

  • The official website of the London Super-Tournament reports that the World Champion Vishy Anand was first to confirm his participation in the forthcoming tournament. The competition will take place in the capital for the 4th time and will continue from December 1st to December 10th. Last year's winners were Magnus Carlsen (2009, 2010) and Vladimir Kramnik (2011).

  • London Chess Classic has a new - 4th participant. Gawain Jones, the winner of the 99th British Championship, enters the competition. Vishy Anand, Magnus Carlsen and Levon Aroian, Vladimir Kramnik, Michael Adams and Judit Polgar have already confirmed their participation. 

    The official website of the festival published the schedule of all the tournaments. The main competition will be held from December 1st to 10th. 

  • Finally the list of participants of the fourth London Chess Classic Supertournament is now open to public. One round robin tournament will take place in December (1-10) between Magnus Carlsen, Vishvanatan Anand, Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik, Judit Polgar, Michael Adams, Luke J McShane, Gawain Jones and Hikaru Nakamura. The current US champion joined the other players last.

  • The organizer of the London Chess Classic Malcolm Pein announced that the 4th London Chess Classic will be held from December 1st - 10th, 2012 on the Facebook page of the tournament. "The tournament will again be a nine player all play all. I will announce the players, venue and prize fund in due course," he says.

  • The leaders of the world rating list compete in London

  • On February 2012 we have reported that the new super-tournament would be held in Stavanger, Norway. Magnus Carlsen has personally helped in choosing the participants. Recently the English version of the competition has been launched on the official website. Five participants of the tournament have already been named. Those are: Carlsen, Aronian, Kramnik, Anand and Wang Hao.

  • The organizers of the traditional London Chess Classic announced this year's competition will switch to rapid chess. It is planned to take place from December 11 to 15; the decision was made because of two factors: the world championship match finishes shortly before (November 26) the rapid tournament will start, while team championship is scheduled to end on December 6, so most of the potential participants might not be "much into classical chess."    

  • Malcolm Pein, the tournament director of the London Chess Classic festival, has announced five participants of the main tournament for 2014 in his Twitter, namely:

    Viswanathan ANAND
    Hikaru NAKAMURA

    Vladimir KRAMNIK
    Michael ADAMS.

  • The pairings for the round-robin London Chess Classic which starts from Saturday 3rd December had been announced. The players drew following numbers: 1. Nigel Short 2. Vladimir Kramnik 3. Levon Aronian 4. Magnus Carlsen 5. Michael Adams 6. Viswanathan Anand 7. David Howel l8. Luke McShane 9. Hikaru Nakamura.

  • The organisers have already held the draw for the supertournament London Chess Classic. The results were published on the official website today. Thus, the participants can already start preparations, as long as they know their rivals and the color they will have. Pairings for Round 1: McShane - Carlsen, Aronian - Nakamura, Kramnik - Polgar, Jones - Adams.
