The Women's Grand Prix: Cmilyte Confused Galliamova, Tatiana Kosintseva Keeps a Low Profile

The 3rd round of the Women's Grand Prix held in Kazan was full of fight. Hou Yifan recouped herself after yesterday's loss against Yildiz by defeating Tatiana Kosintseva with black. Another Kosintseva, Nadezhda, beat Alexandra Kosteniuk in Catalan. Betul Yildiz couldn't overplay Danelian, who gained a tactical win.

Probably, Victoria Cmilyte can be named as a hero of the day because of her beautifully won game against Alisa Galliamova.

However, the game wasn't the most accurate one.

CMILYTE - GALLIAMOVA

18.е5!? Lithuanian players first trap. It's hard to say what she was planning to do on 18...Nxe5, but Galliamova chose another continuation. 18...b5 19.Rxd4 Nh3+ 20.gxh3 bxc4.

21.e6. Another move provoking more complications. Cmilyte is good in that. 21...Ne5 22.Rf4?! Nxf3?! 23.Rxf3 f5?? loses immediately. Although it should be noted that black's position here is already uncomfortable. 24.Nxf5, after several moves Galliamova resigned.
