The Tal Memorial: The Most Uninteresting Game of the Thrilling Round Ended in a Draw

A relatively boring game of the day was first to finish in the 3rd round of the Tal Memorial. In one of the side variants of Grunfeld defence Magnus Carlsen didn't get any advantage against accurately playing Fabiano Caruana and made a correct decision by changing the position by playing 21.Rc1!. The rivals soon went into a drawn endgame with different squared bishops. Two "C"-s repeated the position three times in order not to violent the rules and agreed on a draw.

At the press conference Carlsen noted that other games of the round were more interesting. Answering the additional questions Carlsen said he followed the World Championship match Anand-Gelfand as a top event with interest, however, he couldn't watch them live as long as he was sleeping at that time because of a different schedule of the day during the match.
