The third round of the Capablanca Memorial that takes place in Cuba was marked by two draws. Yuniesky Quesada and Vassily Ivanchuk drew in an eventless game.

IAn Nepomniachtchi and Viktor Laznicka played till the bare kings. Laznicka got a comfortable position from the opening, but has mistaken in an endgame giving Nepomniachtchi practical chances to win. Czech GM still managed to hold the game.

NEPOMNIACHTCHI - LAZNICKA

Black king is locked, but that doesn't help White to win.
54.e5 h4 55.Re2 Rc4+ 56.Kf3 Rc8
Or 56...Rf4+, after which taking of the rook would lead to stalemate.
57.e6 Rf8+ 58.Ke4 Kg3 59.Re3+ Kg2 60.e7 Re8 61.Kf4 h3 62.Re2+ Kf1 63.Kf3

63...Rxe7! 64.Rxe7 h2 65.Rh7 Kg1 66.Rg7+ Kf1 67.Rh7 Kg1 68.Rxh2 Kxh2 1/2-1/2

Dominguez, who has lost to Ivanchuk a day before, have gained his second victory in the tournament.

DOMINGUEZ - POTKIN

24...Re4?!
An interesting sacrifice of the rook (with the idea of preventing White's hypothetical attack and develop initiative) wasn't enough.
Instead, Black should have played 24...d4, and it's position is not worse.

After 3 rounds Ivanchuk and Dominguez lead with 2 points each.
