There Was Blitz and Bughouse Chess, and a Grandmaster's Defeat in a Simultaneous in "Luzhniki"

There was a traditional "Open Day" celebration in the Moscow's sports complex "Luzhniki" on the first day of May. Visitors could participate in competitions of thirty types of sports. The chess programme was presented by Maria Manakova.

There was an outdoor blitz tournament for anyone interested. It was won by Evgenij Shuvalov (2246) with 6.5 points out of 7.

The Champion of Moscow Ivan Popov gave a simultaneous exhibition.

One participant, Vladislav Seliverstov, managed to win against the grandmaster.

Also, anyone could entertain themselves in the Bughouse Chess competition and a quiz. As reported by the site chessmoscow.ru, the winners and other top-placed participants received souvenirs from the sports complex.
