Syria Will Host the Tournament For the Children From Arab Countries; Chess Will be Taught at Schools

At the same time several sources quoted today the information of Interfax about Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's visit to Syria, where he had a meeting with the President of Syria Bachar Assad. "I  proposed to hold the Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Syria and discuss the problems of stabilization of a situation in the country", - said Ilyumzhinov. According to the FIDE President he witnessed two explosions in Damascus this past Saturday. 

In the near future the World Chess Federation and Syrian government will sign the agreement on providing chess lessons at schools and the organisation of the tournament for the children from Arab countries. 

Let us remind you that, last year Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has visited Libya during the NATO operation against Muammar Gaddafi. The FIDE President even played a game against the late Lybian leader.
