Grandmaster Troops in Angola: Viorel Bologan Wins Cuca International

Moldova's strongest GM Viorel Bologan won "Cuca International" which took place in the capital of Angola, Luanda and which was  attended by 30 players.  


Bologan scored 8 out of 9. A long-term resident of the Netherlands Sergei Tiviakov lost him only half a point. Another Dutch Erwin L'Ami took clear third place gathering 6.5/9. Ahmed Adly of Egypt finished 4th with 6/9. GMs Maxim Dlugy (USA) and Sergey Kasparov (Belarus) scored 5.5 each. 

Among the players who shared 7-12 places with 5/9 are GMs Thal Abergel (France), Alexandr Fier (Brazil) and Antonio Fernandes (Portugal), Ukrainian FIDE IM Roman Chemeris, FIDE IM Catarino Domingos and Pedro Aderito. (The winner of the last year's tournament Nigel Short of England didn't participate).
