The website of FIDE informs about today's meeting of the President of FIDE Kirsan Ilymzhinov with IOC Vice-President Thomas Bach and IOC Director General Christophe De Kepper. According to the report the sides discussed "matters of mutual interest" and confirmed good relations between FIDE and IOC. The meeting was also attended by FIDE Treasurer/Executive Director Nigel Freeman, FIDE CEO Geoffrey Borg and Director of FIDE's Moscow office Berik Balgabaev.

FIDE website also published an announcement on non-recognition of the "World Youth Championships and "World amateur Championships" organised by Amateur Chess Organisation, which are supposed to be held in Dubai and Paris in 2012. FIDE stresses it's the only global organisation recognised by the IOC to hold the World Championships in all categories and age groups. FIDE informs "its national federations and their members that these so called "World Championships" for Youth and Amateur categories in Dubai and Paris are not the official FIDE events and they will not be included in the FIDE rating list."
