Linares Organisers Have Announced: There Will Be No Tournament Again This Year

Chessdom has published that the Linares tournament planned for April of this year is officially cancelled. They provide an explanation from the technical director of the tournament- Francisco Fernández Albalate. The reason is not financial, but rather "lack of dates in the calendar". The tournament was planned to be held in two cities - Linares and Mexico City. However, the agreement coudn't be reached with the Mexicans.
Last year the tournament was also cancelled. Back in January 2012, during the Wijk-aan-Zee tournament, Linares organisers announced that their tournament would probably be held at the end of April.
Chess-News has been informed that today there was a signing of two agreements in Baku, which was attended by the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the head of Agon Andrew Paulson.
The International Chess Federation has confirmed that the Women’s World Championship between the current World Champion Hou Yifan and her Indian challenger Humpy Konery will take place in Tirana, Albania.
