Capablanca Memorial with Elite Tournament Will Take Place in May

Organisers of the Capablanca Memorial have confirmed the final composition of this elite tournament to be held from 3 to 14 May this year. The following players will compete during the double round robin: Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine, 2764), Leinier Dominguez (Cuba 2730), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia, 2718), Victor Laznicka (Czech Republic, 2702), Vladimir Potkin (Russia, 2669) and Yuniesky Quesada (Cuba, 2625).

The organizers of the Kings' Tournament have finally announced the dates and the participants' list of the upcoming competition. Four players, Fabiano Caruana, Veselin Topalov, Vassily Ivanchuk and Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu will play in the tournament which will take place from November 7th - 14th in Bucharest. Carlsen, Anand, Karjakin and Radjabov have refused invitations. 

Today at 18.00, in the Centre of New Technologies "Digital October" (or "Krasnij Oktjabr") in Moscow, will take place the opening of the eighth edition of the Tal Memorial.

A strong rapid tournament GM Vladimir Petrov Memorial will be held from February 15 to 17 in Jurmala. Chess-Results has published the participants' list according to the players' rapid chess rating:

The penultimate round of the Capablanca Memorial, particularly of the Elite Group, has started at 23:00 MSK Time in Havana. In the key game Ian NEepomniachtchi plays against Vassily Ivanchuk, who is half a point ahead of him. You can follow this and other encounters live. 

The official website of the Capablanca Memorial, which will start tomorrow, informs that there's one, but a serious change in the participant list of the Premier group: the rating favourite Lazaro Bruzon withdraws the tournament for personal reasons and will be replaced by another Cuban player Almeida. After this change Russian Aleksandr Rakhmanov becomes the top-seed of the group.

The discussion around the new series of the Cup of Russia has started less than in a month after the final of the last Cup of Russia has finished. Soon after the holidays Vladimir Dvorkovich Memorial will open the new season of tournaments.

Seventh round games of the main tournament of the Capablanca Memorial have started at 23.00 Moscow time in Havana. In the elite tournament, Vassily Ivanchuk is playing with black for the third time in a row; this time it's against one of his nearest rivals Leinier Dominguez. Follow these and other games live.
