In the 3rd round of London Classic one of the leaders Kramnik had bye, while two other leaders of the tournament faced each other. Nakamura’s position stayed acceptable for quite a long time, but ultimately the struggle ended in a devastative attack of White.
As Nakamura explained he had miscalculated the sacrifice of the exchange and that was the reason why he played 29...Rfb8 – which, at that point, seemed a logical move for him.
At the press-conference the rivals analysed 34...Qg6, which was leaving Black practical chances in a worse position. White could have replied 25.d5.
Nakamura made a mistake 34...Ra8? instead, which led Black to a quick loss.
