Vishy Anand is the biggest loser at the start of the Sinquefield Cup. After two rounds, with Black, he has lost both. In the 2nd round the ex-world champion's nemesis was Grischuk, who admitted it was the first time in his life he had beaten Anand in classical chess.

"In addition, it is my first win this year against a strong opponent - added Grischuk. - OK, I beat Karyakin, so this is the second".

Alexander also commented on the opening. According to him the move order 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 is the incorrect Bishops opening, but 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 is the correct one! "I have played this about 30 times in my career but only in rapid and blitz. This was the first time in classical..."

Anand pointed out that he should not have followed the opening of his blitz game against Grischuk in Stavanger. "It just happens sometimes. You lose control and it’s kind of hard to find your feet after that... What can one do after two defeats? Begin to play better."
