In an interview on the RCF website, GP winner Fabiano Caruana spoke in particular about anti-cheating measures in the concluding stage at Khanty-Mansiysk:

"They had metal detectors, but they weren't working. We went through them, but they did not check anything. One can say that there were no anti-cheating measures in force at Khanty-Mansiysk. However, I don't think there could ever have been any cheats in the event - only fair play.

Cheating in open tournaments is a serious problem, but it is up to organisers to solve this. Of course, there should be strict measures - obligatory metal-detectors or more thorough searches of players. The relevant FIDE Commission should also be more active." .
