David Navara on first board found an intuitive piece sacrifice whihc brought him a point.

NAVARA - GRISCHUK

20. Bxh6! gxh6 21. Qxh6 (all lines can't be calculated at the obrd, but apparently White's initiative is strong in all cases) 21...Nh7 22. f6! Bf8 23. Qh5! Qc5+ 24. Kh2 Qe3 25. h4! Qh6 26. Qxh6 Bxh6 27. g5 Bf8 (Grischuk could try 27...Rec8!?, although Black is clearly worse) 28. g6 Bh6 29. Nf5 Bf4+

30. Rxf4! taking the rook now leads to checkmate (31.Nh6+ и 32.g7#); the result of the game was clear for everyone. (1-0, 40)

Svidler overestimated strength of his queen's flank in the middle game, so the rival's counterplay decided the result.

Viktor Laznicka celebrated win over Peter Svidler as black

Thus, Russia got zero on the first two boards and drew encounters on the 3rd and 4th boards: 3-1 was the final reseult. A loss which drops Russia's chances to win gold dramatically.
