Ukrainian Women's National Team To Play Without Lagno

According to Chess-Results, up to now Ukrainian Women's national team had four players announced: Anna and Mariya Muzychuk, Anna Ushenina and Natalia Zhukova. From the interview the president of the Ukrainian chess federation Viktor Kapustin gave Chess-News, we assumed a place was left for Kateryna Lagno as far as her transfer into Russian chess federation was protested. Recently the issue was settled and it's clear that Lagno will represent Russia already at the Tromso Olympiad. Thus, the 5th player has been announced in the Ukrainian team, that is Inna Gaponenko.
Ukrainian chess player Kateryna Lagno has been granted Russian citizenship by Vladimir Putin, informs Itar-Tass. The statement has been published on the official portal today. "To comply with the request of Lateryna Lagno, born on December 27 1989 in Ukraine to obtain Russian citizenship," says the document.

Today round 1 of the 72-nd Ukrainian women chess championship is going to take place in Kharkov. The competition is one round robin one and will be over on october, 3-rd. According to Natalia the women's team (which finished third) could have achieved a better result if all of the members of the team were in an optimal shape.
