The Gelfand - Svidler match in rapid chess has continued today after the rest day.

It's already clear the Russian businessman Oleg Skvortsov will have a hard time choosing the best game to award as long as all encounters are full of fighting chess. Interestingly Black placed the bishop on g7 in all six games played so far, and in three of those encounters g7-g6 was played already as the first move.

Gelfand equalized the match score by winning the fifth game, he used oppoennet's mistake on 14th move: Gelfand developed all the pieces fully enjoying this advantage.

In a reply game Russian GM was better in understanding the King's Indian with the bishop developed on g2.

GELFAND - SVIDLER

The position has been frequently played, also by young Gelfand when he used to play King's Indian as Black quite often.
15.Bg5!? An interesting novelty. More common is placing the bishop on е3.
15...b5! 16.cxb5 axb5 17.Ndxb5 Bxb5 18.Nxb5 Rxa2 Black let White to have the "advnatage of the pair of bishops" but got some advantages in return - more active pieces and a somewhat easier posititon to play. In such positions White is more likely to make a mistake, which eventually happened to Gelfand too.
