In a recent interview to Chessdom Wesley So told he had a phone talk with Mr. Pichay, the president of the National Chess Federation of Philippines (NCFP), who confirmed that he is not against him switching the federation to the US one.

"In short, he said that he is not upset with me at all, and he only wishes the best for my chess career. He has no objection with me transferring federation to the US. Unfortunately, he said that he is not in the position to sign the consent for my release without the approval from the PSC (Philippines Sports Commission). This is the organization which funds the NCFP and they have the overall final authority."

So added no one is able to stop the process of his transfer anyhow. The maximum harm one could do is that he would be forced to skip playing FIDE events for several years.

Earlier we've published an open letter the grandmaster addressed to Mr. Pichay, let us remind you back then the president didn't express readiness on helping So to change the federation.
