Boris Gelfand was close to gaining his first victory in Wijk aan Zee. Recently the encounters against Nakamura finish successfully for the Israeli GM, however, he didn't manage to win this time.

The grandmasters left the playing hall with different moods: American was happy to save the tough position, while Gelfand smiled only once when he was asked: "What's happening to you at this competition?"
"It happens," he replied. "Let's keep working."

NAKAMURA - GELFAND

43.Qb1? Those following the game with the computer immediatelly said this move was a blunder. Indeed, Black could finish the game: 43...Bxf3+! 44.Kxf3 e4+ 45.Bxe4 Qa3+. Nakamura confessed he didn't see this variation at the board at all. Gelfand saw taking on f3, but he didn't notice 45...Qa3+.

"And what if the computer shows that?," Israeli player reacted. "Who cares about computers? They have their own life, we have ours. Chess is played by people, not the machines."

The following took place in the game: 43...Bf7 44.Rh1 Rxh1 45.Qxh1 Bg6 46.Bxg6 Kxg6 47.Qh5+ Kg7 48.Qe8 сwith a draw.

Nakamura joined those having 2 points after three rounds. Gelfand still shares the bottom of the table with Naiditsch.
