Chessbase reports somewhat sensational news: the Danish GM Peter Heine Nielsen who has worked with Vishy Anand for around ten years, now joins Carlsen's team.

"We are very pleased to have Peter on the team", the website quotes Carlsen's manager Espen Agdestein (he is on the right on the picture). Agdestein however, emphasized Carlsen's preparation for the tournaments will not change too much. "Magnus plays best when he has lots of energy and desire to gamble. Therefore, we do not want to change his routines too much. At the same time Magnus will improve his openings for the Candidates, and here Peter will help him."

According to Magnus's manager the two will spend a few weeks in the Canary Islands to prepare for the Candidates. Other members of Norwegian's team hasn't been announced yet.

There's only one problem left: if Nielsen's help will be successful, Carlsen will be Anand's challenger in Fall. "We cannot use Peter after he has worked so long with Anand," Agdestein says. "That would not it be good, morally, even if there are no problems legally. Peter is therefore not going to work with us in preparation, if Magnus qualifies as World Championship challenger."

The website also mentions that Nielsen has already worked with Magnus in his early career. In 2005 he seconded Magnus at the World Cup in Khanty Mansiysk, and in 2007 he worked with him for the competitions in Wijk aan Zee and Linares.
